2.4 - Computation Logic
Logic Gates
- OR Gates
- two inputs
- represented in Boolean as V
- 'A or B' is represented as 'A V B'
- AND Gates
- You must put two inputs in to get one input out
- One will only output if both that are input are on
- 'A and B' is represented as 'A ^ B'
- NOT Gates
- Not gates only have one input and one output
- Its the oppisite for example if you put 1 in it would output 0
- In Boolean 'not A' is represented as '¬A'
- You can a long circuit outputting 1 all the way through and put a NOT Gate at the end and change it all to a 0
- OR Gates
Logic Circuits
- Logic gates can be combined to make logic circuits
- Not gates are applied to the output of the expression that they were inverting
- You can put multiple logic gates together to make big long circuits which can go on for ages
Binary In Logic Gates
- Binary is the representationof the ‘presence’ of electricity electricity
- If absent or ‘off’ we use a: 0
- If present or ‘on’ we use a: 1
- We can use this idea above to change 1 and 0 states through the use of logic gates
- Logic Gates uses inputs and covert them to an output
- The digit is 1 or 0 is stored in transistors which are in the processor
