Lesson design

  1. Materials

    • Teaching materials is a generic term used to describe the resources teachers use to deliver instruction
      • 1. The teacher has to write all the materials he/she will use during the class.
      • All materials should be included even if the teacher considers it unnecessary,
  2. Lesson Objectives

    • In education, learning objectives are brief statements that describe what students will be expected to learn by the end of school year, course, unit
      • They have to be clear and reachable.
      • You need to think of something that can be accomplished within a single lesson.
      • An objective should clearly specify what the results of the activity should be
  3. Warm up

    • A warmer is an activity at the start of the class to warm up the learners. They tend to be short, dynamic activities
      • Students should know that the class is starting because of the eagerly dynamic the teacher is developing here
  4. Instruct

    • The teaching instruction refers to the general principles, pedagogy and management strategies used for classroom instruction.
      • When instructing the teacher needs to be sticky
      • Classes should be memorable, usable, and durable.
  5. Modeling

    • It is the teacher doing while involving the students in the thinking, the doing and all aspects of the process.
      • Provide more than one model
      • Provide a single model can cause students to follow the model so closely
  6. Guided practice

    • In the Guided Practice section of your written lesson plan, outline how your students will demonstrate that they have grasped the skills, concepts, and modeling
      • Students need time to consider, process and practice skills that you have asked them to master
      • Guided practice often takes a portion of a complete independent activity and allows students to work on a particular portion of that larger activity.
  7. Independent practice

    • Independent Practice is the part of the lesson cycle where students are given the opportunity to practice the concept presented during the Introduction to new topic
      • The idea is that students have been given instruction, have gone through a number of activities, and are now ready to show their understanding.
  8. Assessment

    • In education, the term assessment refers to the wide variety of methods or tools that educators use to evaluate, measure, and document the academic readiness
      • It does not mean we have to evaluate them.
      • It is an activity to know if the students have learnt the topic we have just taught.
      • It is the way to evaluate the objectives.
