1. Formed by thermal metamorphism

2. Hot magma came into contact

   • With limestone
     • Intense heat
       • Caused limestone to change to marble
         • All of limestone's fossils were destroyed
           • Marble is non-foliated
             • It has no layers
       • Over 700 degrees

3. Marble is exposed

   • As surrounding rock was weathered

4. Marble is harder than limestone

   • Marble is more decorative
     • Used for gravestones and worktops

5. Different colour to limestone

   • Can be black, green or white
