ALTERNATIVE ENERGIES
They are sources of obtaining energy that are an alternative to other traditional ones; Which minimize and produce less negative impact on the environment.
- When humans first harnessed fire for light and heat, they were using renewable energy. Although it is certainly not the first thing that comes to mind when we think of renewable energy, the burning of wood, brush, leaves and animal matter that is a source of energy known as biomass, and while plants, trees and animals continue to grow and reproduce, they will qualify as renewable. Compared to the technology, and the increased use of energy, that we have today, biomass is considered quite inefficient, but the fact that man's first use of an external source of energy outside of a renewable source shows how profoundly we are connected to the natural world.
- REASONS TO USE RENEWABLE ENERGY
- They combat climate change by reducing pollution on the planet.
- Thanks to these energies, the towns farthest from urban centers have access to water, gas or electricity that do not arrive in a conventional way
- They save natural resources, generate less greenhouse gases and also generate less waste.
- Renewable energies are safe, since they do not pose risks to people or the environment.
- They are inexhaustible sources of energy, not like coal or oil that are not replenished.
- Its cost is predictable and can be planned, since it does not allow market speculation as it is inexhaustible.
- They are indigenous and this means being independent from importing fossil fuels from other countries.
- TYPES OF RENEWABLE ENERGY
- SOLAR
- It is obtained directly from solar radiation through a solar panel that in turn transforms it into electrical energy.
- WIND
- kinetic energy of the wind that moves the blades of a wind turbine which in turn activates a turbine that converts it into electrical energy.
- HYDRAULICS
- It is the one that takes advantage of the movement of water to generate energy.
- FROM SEA
- The oceans offer enormous energy potential that, through different technologies, can be transformed into electricity and contribute to meeting current energy needs.
- GEOTHERMAL
- It is that which is obtained by harnessing the internal heat of the Earth. We can see examples of this type of energy in the eruptions of volcanoes, the heat contained in natural hot springs or geysers.
- BIOMASS AND BIOGAS
- It consists of the combustion of organic waste of animal and vegetable origin, including all biodegradable products such as sawdust, bark or anything that can be included in the container of organic matter.
