Cycles of Matter

Cycles of Matter

1. Carbon Cycle

   • Plants takes in carbon and use it to make sugar moleculs
     • Dead animals gives off carbon
       • Animals breath and give carbon
         • Human activities give off carbon
       • Animals eats plants that contain carbon
     • Carbon goes to athmosphere and then back to plants.

2. Nitrogen Cycle

   • Free nitrogen in air
     • Bacterium in roots "fix" free nitrogen
       • Plants use "fixed" nitrogen to make complex compounds
         • Consumers eat nitrogen comounts in plants
           • Free nitrogen returns into air
             • ola k ase
         • decomposers return simple nitrogen compounds into the soil
         • soil bacterium release some free nitrogen into the air

3. Oxygen Cycle

   • Plants gives off oxygen as reult of photosintesis
     • Organisims takes in oxygen to carry out their life procceses
