A vertical asymptote always gives an x-value. So, they are always written as a x= equation

Graphing method for vertical asymptotes: Vertical asymptotes show up as vertical lines that both sides of the graph approach, but don't touch. On the graph of the function, the line on the right is headed towards positive 1 but does not reach it. And, the left side heads towards positive 1 but does not reach it either. Therefore, line of x=1 is the vertical asymptote of this graph.

Method 2 use the equation: Since the asymptote line gives the x- value that cannot work in a function, its a value of x that would make the function "undefined" ( so would force us to divide by 0). To figure out that value we can just take the denominate of the function, set it equal to 0, and solve for x.

EX: 2x - 0 = 2

2x = 2

x = 1

When graphing f(x) means the same thing as y. So for example: if f(-3)=f(3), thats the same thing as saying: The y-value of the point at x= -3 is equal to the y value of the point at x= 3.

If you have f(-3) = 5 then you have f(3)= 5 so your points are (-3,5) (3,5)

Even functions are symmetrical about the y-axis . The left side is a mirrored version of the right side.

f(a negative number)= f(the positive version of that number)
