SIMPLE FUTURE AND IDIOMATIC FUTURE

SIMPLE FUTURE "WILL"

We use the future simple with 'will' to predict the future. It is the basic way we talk about the future in English, and we often use it if there is no reason to use another future tense. We can use it for future facts and for things that are less certain. For example:

The sun will rise at 7am.

-Promises / requests / refusals / offers. This is sometimes called 'volitional' will. It's about wanting to do something or not wanting to do something in the future. For example:

I'll help you with your homework.

Will you give me a hand?

I won't go!

Affirmative form:

It will rain tomorrow.

I'll pay for the tickets by credit card

We can see in the examples that we use the following structure:

SUBJECT + WILL + VERB + COMPLEMENT

Negative form:

I won´tgo to the university

We can see in the example that we use the following structure:

SUBJECT + WON´T + VERB + COMPLEMENT

Interrogative form:

Will you go to the university?

We can see in the example that we use the following structure:

WILL + SUBJECT + VERB + COMPLEMENT + ?

IDIOMATIC FUTURE " GOING TO"

The Idiomatic Future is used to talk about immediate plans to be made. It is formed with the verb to be in the present as auxiliary and the expression "Going to."

Afirmative form:

I’M + GOING TO + INFINITIVE

Example: I’m going to play the flute.

Negative form:

I’M + NOT GOING TO + INFINITIVE

Example: She isn’t going to get up late

Interrogative form:

VERB TO BE + PERSONAL PRONOUN + GNG TO + COMPLEMENT + ?

Example: Are you going to learn English?
