Improvements -

I need to learn how to reference magazines and articles better, learning where the month goes for a magazine and which way round the issue and volume numbers are for articles. Therefore, I need to practice referencing those sources. I also need to learn how to reference sources like videos, podcasts and movies/DVDs as they will be helpful in future assessments and projects.

Upload your completed Task to your graded project journal. Include any comments about aspects of your referencing you need to improve – this will be useful for your evaluation

Harvard Referencing: Secondary Referencing - 27/09/2021

Find an example in an academic source where they refer to a source that they used.

Rewrite this information in your own words and provide an in-text and full reference for this secondary source.

The beliefs America held over the inferiority of other countries even spread to freed slaves (Bigsby and Temperley, 2014). Augustus Washington (1851, cited in Bigsby and Temperley, 2014), an African-American from the North, wrote to a friend stating that the natural resources of Liberia were not being taken advantage of by those who lived there. He even goes on to say that those living there were inferior, by calling them "uncivilized inhabitants" (Washington, 1851, cited in Bigsby and Temperley, 2014, p.13).

Harvard Referencing: Review - 27/09/2021

Find two open book pieces of work from last year from two different subjects, e.g. your Investigation & Sociology (not Psychology as you used a different referencing technique)

Copy your two full reference lists into a Word document

Compare your referencing with the Library+ Harvard Guide. Specifically look for:

Any inconsistencies between your work and the guide

Any inconsistencies in your referencing, i.e. sometime writing initials then last name and other times writing last name then initials

Any parts of your referencing that were correct according to the Library+ Harvard Guide

When you have gone through them with a fine tooth comb, rewrite them according to the Library+ Guide

Be prepared to share some parts of this activity with the group.
