- 1Step 1.Using a measuring cylinder, measure out 150cm3 of H2O.
Pour the water into the beaker.
Record the initial temperature of the water to the nearest 0.5'c - 2Step 2.Add methanol to the spirit burner. Weigh the spirit burner containing the methanol.
- 3Step 3.Place the spirit burner under the beaker, light the burner and burn the liqid fuel whilst stirring the water with the thermometer.
- 4Step 4.After about 3 minutes extinguish the flame and immediately record the maximum 'c reached by the water
- 5Step 5.Re-weigh the spirit burner containing the methanol. Assume that the wick has not been burnt.
