Your Mind is always surveying the surroundings and environment to make sure nothing in is is dangerous.

Anything new or different will grab someone’s attention.

People habituate to stimuli – if the same thing happens again and again then your mind decides it is not new anymore and not harmful to yourself and then will therefor ignore the stimuli.
