Scenario
Students are asked to complete a quiz as quickly and accurately as possible and that the top 20% will receive $5.
Group A
Told they were competing against 10 people.
Group B
Told they were competing against 100 people.
Group A finished considerably faster and showed greater motivation than Group B.
Competition can be a great motivating tool but shouldn't be overdone. Anything over 10 competitors can have the opposite affect.
