1. History and Background

   • Inventor-Samuel Colt
     • Samuel Colt was always interested in guns, explosives, and machinery.
   • Date and Time-1836 in Connecticut
   • Samuel Colt thought of this idea when he was on a voyage and wanted to use a the same mechanism used to lock a ships's wheel on a gun to make it shoot multiple bullets without reloading.

2. DETAILS OF INVENTION

   • The guns in the 1800’s required constant reloading which took a lot of time.
   • The revolver made this process a lot faster because it was able to shoot multiple bullets without having to reload with the help of a barrel.
   • The use of compact bullets was revolutionary at that time. It fired with .28 caliber bullets.
   • They cylinder had multiple chambers aligned with a single, stationary barrel. He also made other guns, but they all incorporated a revolving cylinder where gunpowder and bullets were loaded.

   • How would the world change if the revolver was never invented?
   • Has the revolver impacted the world in a good or bad way? Why?

4. IMPACT ON SOCIETY

   • The invention affected the economy by boosting it. This was because guns were very popular and were a necessity back then.
   • When the Union went to war against the Confederates they had asked for over 500 units. They were given to the army then it became standard for the army and all the other branches to use as a side weapon
