1n the majority of people, the Amygdala works proficiently and detects [blank_start]fear[blank_end] accurately. Thus, most people will respond to a particular fear in an appropriate way. So for example, if confronted by a stronger and faster animal they will submit. If confronted by a less strong animal they may fight or run.
It is thought that people who are excessively [blank_start]aggressive[blank_end] or fearful have problems with their Amygdala.
This can be because their Amygdala is [blank_start]damaged[blank_end]. Damage can occur through stroke, tumour or developmental problems (it just did not grow correctly) Some areas of damage may lead to the Amygdala reacting in an [blank_start]overly[blank_end] fearful way, other damage may lead to the Amygdala not reacting to fear at all. In overtly aggressive responses, it is thought that the Amygdala [blank_start]misinterprets[blank_end] information from the senses and/or cortex and responds incorrectly with overly aggressive behaviour.- Afear
