- 1What is the most important resource on Earth?Water is the most important resource on Earth.
- 2Why can't humans survive more than days without water but can last for weeks without food? It's because our bodies are made up of 70% of water and needs you to keep it hydrated.

- 3What is the percentage of how much water is in oceans, seas, bays and water lakes?97.5% water
- 4What is the percentage of fresh water that is either trapped underground or in icebergs?2.5% water
- 5What is the proportion of water that is alright to drink?0.01% water
- 6How is water a renewable resource? The amount of water on Earth will always remain the same. We can't run out of water because water continuously works its way through the water cycle.
- 7What is the definition of water cycle? The natural process of recycling water.

- 8What is evaporation and how does it work? When the Sun sucks & causes water to flow out from anything wet.

- 9What is condensation and how does it work?Condensation is the process Condensation is the process where water vapor becomes liquid. It is the reverse of evaporation, where liquid water becomes a vapor.

- 10What is precipitation and how does it work? When the clouds become extremely heavy with water droplets, the water falls back to earth through precipitation (rain, snow, hail)
- 11What is the run-off and percolation. The run-off and percolation are the outcomes of the precipitation phase.
* The run-off means the water will go back into the ocean eventually.
* Percolation means it may soak down into the soil and some water may evaporate. - 12What is the transpiration phase and how does it work?Transpiration is the process when some of the water is taken from the percolation phase through the soil and taken up by the roots of the plants then goes up the plant then evaporates through the stem flowers and leaves & this action is called transpiration.
- 13What is ground water and what does it do?Groundwater is the water present beneath Earth's surface but not in lakes or rivers but trapped between grains of sand or within pervious rock.
- 14What is pervious rock and what does it allow to do?Pervious rocks
are rocks that allow water to soak into them. Then the water can be exacted using a bore or a well. then the layer of rock is
known as an aquifer. Perth gets 60%of it's water from an aquifer. - 15What is the Great Artesian Basin? The Great Artesian Basin is one of the largest
groundwater basins in the world.
- 16How did The Great Artesian Basin form?Millions of years ago beneath the inland sea rocks formed in alternating layers of pervious & impervious rock.
- 17What is impervious rock?Impervious rock does not allow water
to soak into it. - 18What is the Structure of the Great Artesian Basin and can it deliver water?large store of groundwater but takes a very long time for the water to soak through
the rock and into the aquifers
- 19What are the factors affecting the water cycleMany natural factors affect the cycle such as the states of water (solid, liquid, gas) the air temperature, humidity, landscape ,vegetation and the amount of available sunlight.
- 20What is the state of water is incompatible with the water cycle?Ice and snow is a problem because the water is trapped in a frozen stage and can't go until it melts also that plant roots only absorb liquid water from the soil and if the plant stops taking water and start to drop leaves and lose water.
- 21How is air temperature affecting the water cycle? As
the air temperature increases, the rate of evaporation
and transpiration both increase. Plants can slow
transpiration down if they are losing water.
- 22How is humidity affecting the water cycle?the rate of evaporation slows as humidity increases and evaporation and
transpiration then slows down and stops. - 23How is air movement affecting the water cycle?Air becomes saturated and evaporation is slow if there is no wind. Wind blows away moist air and so evaporation increases.
- 24How is the landscape affecting the water cycle? The landscape affects run-off and percolation. And a slower run off means more time for percolation and so the water is trapped underground.

- 25How is the vegetation affecting the water cycle? The type of environment a plant is growing in will affect the rate of transpiration. Cacti have no leaves so the can survive in dry hot climate whereas rain forests have large leaves to quicken transpiration.
- 26How does the amount of sunshine affecting the water cycle? In nature the energy needed to evaporate water comes from the Sun. In parts of the world where there is a lot of
sunshine there is more evaporation than in areas with little sunshine and heavy cloud.
