STRUCTURE TO BE + VERB (PAST PARTICIPLE) Example: ACTIVE: The police arrested many protesters in New York City. PASSIVE: Many protesters were arrested in New York City.
PRESENT SIMPLE Freddy builds hundreds of houses every year. Hundreds of houses are built by Freddy every year.
PRESENT CONTINOUS The authorities are questioning two men. Two men are being questioned by the authorities.
PAST SIMPLE Egyptians built the Pyramids thousands of years ago. The Pyramids were built thousands of years ago.
PAST CONTINOUS They were building a new shopping center. A new shopping center was being built.
PRESENT PERFECT North Americans have chosen Joe Biden as the new president. Joe Biden has been chosen by North Americans as the new president.
PAST PERFECT Sara had taken the pictures before his camera broke. The pictures had been taken by Sara before his camera broke.
FUTURE "WILL" The Ecuadorian soccer team will play the match next week. The match will be played by the Ecuadorian soccer team next week.
WITHOUT THE AGENT - When it is obvious. - When it is not necessary/unimportant. - When it is not known.
