Question Answer
Slipped Upper Femoral Epiphysis (SUFE) Epiphysis appears shorter and the epiphyseal plate wide, with smaller margins. Usually occurs during rapid growth of 10 - 16 year olds
Pelvic ring fractures Because of the closed ring structure of the pelvis a severe blow to one side of the pelvis may result in fractures away from the primary trauma site
Legg-Calve-Perthes disease Flattened femoral head that can lateral appear fragmented. Most common type of aseptic or ischaemic necrosis. Lesions typically involve one hip
Pagets Disease Non-neoplastic bone disease that disrupts new bone growth, resulting in over production of very dense yet soft bone. Bone destruction creates lytic or lucent areas which is followed by reconstruction of bone by which sclerotic or dense areas are created (cotton-wool appearance)
Open Book fracture Disruption of pubic symphysis resulting in the pelvis looking like an open book. SI joint disruption may also be seen
