Eucharist Another name for Holy Communion (sharing of bread and wine)

Father The first person of the Trinity, God
First Cause An argument which attempts to use cause and effect to prove the existence of God
Gospels The books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John telling the life story of Jesus
Holy Spirit The third person in the Trinity, the spirit of God in the world
Immanent Being within time and the universe of space and being able to act in it
Incarnation The birth of God in human form, as Jesus
Ineffable Beyond human understanding or expectation
Meditation A form of worship, ignoring all distractions and focusing only on God
Monothesiem A religion that only believes in one God
New Testament Second part of the Bible, telling Jesus' life and teachings
Old testament First part of the Bible, giving the history of Jewish people
Omni-benevolent The belief that God is all good
Omni potent The belief that God is all powerful
Omniscient The belief that God is all knowing
Prophecy A gift of the spirit - receiving messages from God to pass on to others
Revelation Where an individual gets revealed to God
Ritual A regularly repeated ceremony or action, with symbolic elements
Sacrament A ceremony or event where God is thought to be present
Speaking in Tongues A gift of the spirit - being able to speak many languages including the language of the angels
Son The second person of the Trinity, Jesus Christ
Theist A person who believes in God as presented in Christian theology
Transcendent Being outside the universe of space and time unable to act in it
Trinity The Christian doctrine that God is three in one; Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Visions A gift of the spirit - seeing things no-one else can see
Agnostic A person who is unsure whether God exists
Ascension The word used to describe Jesus' rising from the dead to go to heaven
