Question Answer
Albert Bandura Social Learning Theory Stated; Behaviour is learned from the environment through the process of observational learning. Children observe the people around them. Illustrated in bobo doll experiment.
Observational Learning Children may imitate the behaviour they have observed. 1.Identification- More likely to imitate those who the child identifies with. 2. Reinforcement- Child likely to continue performing behaviour if the consequences are rewarding. 3. Vicarious Reinforcement- Child will take into account what happens to other people when deciding whether or not to imitate the actions.
Steps in Modelling Process 1. Attention. 2. Retention. 3. Reproduction. 4. Motivation.
Self-Regulation Controlling our own behaviour. 1. Self-observation. 2. Judgement. 3. Self-response.
Triadic Reciprocal Causation Human functioning is molded by the reciprocal interaction of behaviour, personal factors (cognition, affect etc.) and environmental events. Don't all make equal contributions- the relative influence depends on which factor is strongest at the time.
Core Features of Human Agency Humans are defined by their ability to organize, regulate and enact behaviours they believe will produce desirable consequences. 1. Intentionality: commitment to actions to bring desired outcomes. 2. Foresight: Ability to set goals. 3. Self-reactiveness: monitoring progress towards fulfilling choices. 4. Self-reflectiveness: people evaluate motives, values and life goals.
Self-Efficacy "the belief in one's capabilities to organize and execute the courses of action required to manage prospective situations". Belief to succeed in particular situations. Determinants of how people think, behave and feel.
