Question Answer
"Yet do i fear thy nature" - Lady Macbeth, Act 1 Scene 5 Lady Macbeth thinks that Macbeth is too weak to kill Duncan
"too full of the milk of human kindness" - Lady Macbeth, Act 1 Scene 5 Lady Macbeth believes he is too much of a kind person and isn't strong enough to commit such a crime
"o full of scorpions is my mind dear wife" - Macbeth, Act 3 Scene 2 Macbeth is becoming blood thirsty and insane ideas are filling his head. It is almost as if he cannot control himself
What is the context around the quote "o full of scorpions is my mind dear wife"? It could be a message to James 1st regarding making righteous decisions, unlike Queen "bloody" Mary who mirrored in the characters of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth
What is the effect of the quote "o full of scorpions is my mind dear wife"? Macbeth has become narcissistic (self- centred) and obsesses about power which shows his greed. Lady Macbeth and Macbeth's relationship is balanced as they both strive for power
What does the word 'scorpions' suggest in the quote "o full of scorpions is my mind dear wife"? It suggests that Macbeth's mind has been poisoned and he has lost control.
"unsex me here" - Lady Macbeth, Act 1 Scene 5 Lady Macbeth is desperate for power and wants to be queen at all costs. She is willing to change her 'God given' body.
What is the context of the quote "unsex me here"? Lady Macbeth is showing un-stereotypical characteristics of women by wanting to be a man. However, it could go against her catholic beliefs as she is trying to change the body that god gave her.
"Look like the innocent flower but be the serpent under't" - Lady Macbeth, Act 1 Scene 7 Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth to act as if everything is normal but still kill the king without letting out the truth
What is the context of the quote "Look like the innocent flower but be the serpent under't"? Shakespeare could be linking Lady Macbeth to queen 'bloody' Mary who was also blood- thirsty and evil. It contradicts marriage at the time because Lady Macbeth is seen as equal to Macbeth
