Cranial Nerve (I) Olfactory Nerve (I) - Exits through Cribriform plate. Function - Smell.
Cranial Nerve (II) Optic Nerve (II) - Exits through Optic Canal. Function - Vision.
Cranial Nerve (III) Oculomotor Nerve (III) Exits through Superior Orbital Fissure Function - Eyeball and Eyelid movement (innervates extrinsic eye muscles).
Cranial Nerve (IV) Trochlear Nerve (IV) Exits through Superior Orbital Fissure Function - Controls superior oblique muscle of the eye.
Cranial Nerve (V) TRIGEMINAL Nerve (V) - Branches into Opthalmic, Maxillary and Mandibular nerves.
Opthalmic Nerve (V1, Sensory) Exits through the superior orbital fissure. Innervates the Scalp, Forehead and Nose.
Maxillary Nerve (V2, Sensory) Exits through Foramen Rotundum (sphenoid bone). Innervates the Cheeks, lower eye lid, nasal mucosa, upper lip, upper teeth and palate.
Mandibular Nerve (V3, Sensory + Motor function) Exits through the Foramen Ovale.
Cranial Nerve (VI) Abducens Nerve (VI) - Exits through Superior Orbital Fissure. Function - Innervates Lateral Rectus muscle.
Cranial Nerve (VII) Facial Nerve (VII) - Exits through Internal Acoustic Meatus + Stylomastoid foramen. Innervates scalp, face and side of neck. Controls muscles of facial expression.
Cranial Nerve (VIII) Vestibulocochlear Nerve (VIII) - Exits through Internal Acoustic Meatus. Function - Hearing and Balance
Cranial Nerve (IX) Glossopharyngeal Nerve (IX) - Exits through Jugular Foramen. Carries afferent sensory and efferent motor information.
Cranial Nerve (X) Vagus Nerve (X) - Exits through Jugular Foramen.
Cranial Nerve (XI) Accessory Nerve (XI) - Exits through Jugular Foramen. Innervates the sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles.
Cranial Nerve (XII) Hypoglossal Nerve (XII) - Exits through Hypoglossal Canal. Function - Innervates intrinsic and extrinsic tounge muscles (except palatoglossus muscle).
