Question Answer
Works mostly on the fear of doing something rather than a horrible experience. CBT works towards trying to find a solution e.g an activity to help overcome the issue and manage it successfully.
How long does CBT take? CBT can take from a couple of weeks to a possible couple of years. It all depends on how the fear has occurred and how long the person has had it. It also depends on the client possibilities of being able to get over their fear and how willing they are to do the activities.
Dr. Aaron T. Beck Dr. Aaron T. Beck born July 19, 1921. He pioneered cognitive behavioural therapy in the early 1960's.
CBT Is NOT A CURE!!!!! Unfortunately CBT cannot cure someone of their fears and anxiety but, it can however help towards dealing with a struggled situation.
CBT in simple form is basically a type of counselling that provides you with different activities to undertake so you are able to face something you may not have done as easily before. It can also provide different steps to being able to be able to face a phobia...
So say someone has an issue with their OCD. CBT can help get over it by gradually making the client stop cleaning something for a day, then for a week, then making the client stick to maybe cleaning something only once a week other than 5 times daily.
CBT can help with a wide range of issues such as: OCD, pain disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, phobias, eating disorders, alcohol misuse and insomnia. This is all by creating different activities for the client to practice.
