Explanation of the Feminist Theory The impact of sex and gender on behaviour. Recognizes gender bias in society. Attempts to explain social inequalities between genders. BONUS: ANDROCENTRICITY- a bias that assumes the male experience is human experience and therefore applies to men and women
Control Theory -proposed by Karl Marx who said society exists purely in economic terms - Power holds a society together. Conflict exists between groups because of inequalities in power (wealth) - Groups compete with one another to meet their needs, but the needs of all groups cannot be met
Labelling Theory -Also called "Social Bond Theory" -If someone doesn't feel close to people or a society, than they will be more likely to break the rules
Strain Theory -Happens when there's profound change or disorder -Occurs when someone is denied access to achieve goals such as culture, money, things people care about etc... *see ANOMIE
Anomie When norms are weak or conflicting or absent, someone might feel a loss of connection. *ANOMIE THEORY is another name for STRAIN THEORY
