Collective Goods Resources that everyone is entitled to
Politics The process determining who are representatives are and what their policies are
Political Participation Civics, how citizens contribute to politics: voting, donations, relaying information
Single Issue Groups political parties that have a strict stance on a single policy; green party
Policymaking Systems The way the government and people shape issues, solve problems, and create laws
Linkage Institution The cycle of how peoples' problems get exposed to the government and solved, (or not)
Policy Agenda Issues that attract the attention of politicians and the people
Political Issue An issue that arises among peoples' disagreement; politicians and people collaborate on how, or how not, to fix it
Policy making Institutions The separate branches of government tasked on solving problems
Public Policy A choice the government makes upon a political issue
Policy Impacts The effect public policies have on people
Democracy The political system of selecting political representatives and the goal of the government is to serve the people
Majority Rule The majority of people always get their way
Minority Rights Rights belong to all people; even those who do not agree with the majority
Representation The political leaders in a democracy must cater to their people
Pluralism All political parties can participate in government; groups with shared interests are prevalent
Elitism The theory that the upper class/ rich people control politics
Hyper pluralism The theory that two opposing political parties will have all the power and crush smaller parties out of the system
Policy Gridlock When a policy is debated by both sides and no middle ground can be found
Political Culture An overall set of values widely shared within a society; we all have a right to trial.
Gross Domestic Product The sum of all the goods and services produced in a year within a nation
