Question Answer
BIRTH RATE Amount of live births per 1000 people
DEATH RATE Amount of deaths per 1000 people
POPULATION DENSITY Amount of people per unit of area
EXPONENTIAL GROWTH Growth whose rate becomes more and more rapid in proportion to the growing total
NATURAL CHANGE The difference between the birth rate and the death rate, expressed as a percentage
STAGE 1 OF DTM Few elderly people in society - short life expectancy. Sides narrow in quickly due to high death rate
STAGE 2 OF DTM Side less concave as death rate drops. A few more elderly people in population. Base a little narrower
STAGE 3 OF DTM Straighter sides as more people live into old age. Birth rate decreasing
STAGE 4 OF DTM Most people die in old age - life expectancy is high. Birth rate reducing causing concave shape
STAGE 5 OF DTM Increasing proportions in the very elderly group. Middle-aged generation is much larger than those of children because of low birth rate
