Describe the nature of the internet as a worldwide collection of computer networks - The internet is a network a networks - All of the computers on the internet are connected to the same WAN
What's a network adapter? - Allows the computer to send and receive data over the network - May be built in to the computer - An add -on such as a Wi-Fi dongle
What's a router? - Controls all of the communication on a local area network - Allows all of the computers on a network to communicate over the internet
What's a modem? - Stands for modulator/demodulator -Converts the communication signals used on the local network to signals that can be transmitted on the internet and vice versa. It converts digital signals to analogue ones vice versa.
