Question Answer
Force a push or pull
Motion the movement of something
Newton an English physicist and mathematician who is known for inventing the 3 laws of motion
Friction the force that slows down an object when rubbing on each other
Gravity the force that pulls you down to earth; for example, gravity is the reason why apples fall off trees
Acceleration the measurement of the change in velocity
Velocity speed and direction
Inertia the way an object resists a change in motion or rest
Speed the rate at how quick an object can move
Balanced Force two forces in opposite directions on an object and match in size; when there is a balanced force on an object, it either stays still or keeps moving without any change in velocity(speed and velocity). For example, a stick is able to float in the ocean because the stick has the equal force as the force of the upthrust of the water.
Unbalanced Force the opposite of balanced force; when two forces don't have the equal amount of force which causes still objects to move, change a moving object's velocity or make it stop.
Net Force the measurement of the amount of force an object gets
Newton's 1st Law of Motion An object in motion stays in motion and an object at rest stays at rest unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
Newton's 2nd Law of Motion Force = Mass x Acceleration
Newton's 3rd Law of Motion For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction
Magnetic Force the attractive force that pulls metals together
Applied Force Force that is applied to an object or person
Gravity on Earth VS The Gravity on the Moon the gravity on the Earth is 3 times stronger than the moons
Tension Force the force that is given to a tight object when it is pulled tight by forces
Spring Force an object that compresses or stretches a spring and is always restored back to it's normal position
