Question Answer
Fact Finding Questions What don’t you know but wish you did know?
This is a great question to ask when you have a diverse team together as often people possess critical information which they haven’t shared. An awareness of where the holes in your knowledge lie can help teams begin finding solutions from a far more solid base.

Fact Finding Questions Why is this a problem for you?
Be sure you don’t end up tackling problems based on whims or misunderstandings. Back up opinions with hard facts so as to be clear why there's a concrete business case for solving this problem
Fact Finding Questions What do you know (or think you know) about this situation?
This question is designed to elicit all the facts around the situation. Don’t overlook the obvious, sometimes these are the facts that are best considered/challenged.

Fact Finding Questions Do others see this as a problem?
Before you begin your creative project, make sure your team agrees that there is a challenge/problem to be tackled. If some individuals are resisting change at this stage, you will struggle to engage them in the process. Find out why there's resistance and look for facts, not opinions.
Fact Finding Questions What have you already thought of or tried?
This question helps you contextualise your problem and might uncover approaches that the team might be able to collaboratively refine.
Fact Finding Questions If this problem were to be resolved, what would you achieve?
This question helps you set clear objectives and should incentivise all team members.

Fact Finding Questions Are we making any assumptions?
This question is designed to prevent one of the biggest blocks and time wasters in business. Assumptions not only stand in the way of innovation, they're also bad for team dynamics and breed misunderstanding.
Fact Finding Questions Do we have power to change this situation?
Make sure your team has the power to act on any ideas they develop within this process. This is a common barrier to innovation. If you need the support of a key stakeholder, consider involving them at this point.
