Question Answer
What is energy transfer? The flow of energy from one object into another object.
What is an example of energy transfer? An example of energy transfer is when you kick a ball, kinetic energy from your foot is transferred to the ball, causing the ball to move.
What is energy transformation? Energy transformation is the conversion of one type of energy into another type of energy.
What is an energy flow diagram? An energy flow diagram is a diagram that uses arrows to show the way energy is passed on or changed into other forms in a particular situation.
What do computers, TVs, and MP3 players covert electricity into? Computers, TV'S and MP3 players convert electricity into sound, light and heat energy.
What happens when a glass falls of a table? The glass initially has gravitational potential energy. When it is falling, this energy is changed into kinetic energy and some heat energy. When it hits the floor, some of the kinetic energy is transferred to the pieces of glass that break.
What does a solar cell convert light energy into? A solar cell converts light energy into electrical energy.
What does the law of conservation of energy state? The law of conservation of energy states that energy can never be lost or destroyed.
What happens if one object wastes energy? If one object wastes energy, then it is always gained by another object, usually as heat.
What is wasted energy? Energy that has been transformed into a form that is not useful.
What is input energy? The form of energy to make something run
What is output energy? Useful energy is its output.
What is energy efficiency? Energy efficiency is the measure of how much input energy is converted into useful output energy.
How can you tell if a device is energy efficient? If most of the input energy is converted into useful output energy, then the device is energy efficient.
How can you tell if the device is inefficient? If a lot of the the input energy is wasted, then the device is inefficient.
Is an electric fan efficient? No, because an electric fan wastes some of its electrical energy by converting it into sound and heat. This makes it inefficient.
What is renewable? Renewable means they are unlimited in supply and can be used over and over again.
What are some example of renewable energy? Some examples of renewable energy are: -Solar energy -Wind energy -Hydroelectric energy
What is non-renewable? Non-renewable means it is limited in supply and will eventually run out.
What are some examples of non-renewable energy sources? Some examples of non-renewable energy sources are: -Fossil fuels such as, coal, oil and natural gas.
