Filters only let one colour go through. What happens to all the other colours of light? They get absorbed.
A Magenta light through a red filter will show a red light. Why is this? Because Magenta is made up of blue and red light; the blue gets absorbed but the red goes through.
A red fliter followed by a blue filter will not show any light. Why is this? Because the red filter absorbs all light apart from red, and so there is no blue light to go through the filter.
A blue t-shirt with red decoration looks like a black t-shirt with red decoration in red light. Why is this? The decoration looksred because it reflects red light but the tshirt does not reflect erd light so appears to be black to your eye.
