| Describe what Gregor Mendel did: | Carried out meticulous and methodical experiments on a large number of plants, to propose a mechanism for inheritance. His work was not accepted as DNA/genes were not known at the time. |
| Describe CF | Cystic fibrosis-causes thick mucus to be made that blocks the bronchioles in the lungs. It is caused by a recessive allele. |
| What is genetic counselling? | Counsellors can look at patterns in family trees and predict the probability of offspring inheriting genetic disease. |
| What is gene therapy? | Replacing faulty genes with the correct one. This can ALLIVIATE symptoms but not cure it. Genes get to lungs using an inhaler but is difficult to target appropriate cells. They are packaged in liposomes or virus coats. |

| What is the response called when a plant grows towards light? | Positive phototropism |
| Name the hormone in a plant that is used in phototropism: | Auxin |
