Question Answer
L Dedicated line that has identical upload and download speeds (symmetrical speeds).
ADSL (Asymmetric digital subscriber line) As the name suggests the download speeds are asymmetrical as the download speed is much faster than the upload speed
What are the advantages of the bus network topology? 1) Easy to connect a computer or peripheral to the bus topology. 2) It requires less cable length than a star topology
What are the disadvantages of the bus network topology? 1) If there is a break in the main cable then the entire network will shut down. 2) If the network shuts down it might be difficult to find the cause of the problem. 3) Not an appropriate stand-alone solution in a large building. 4) Terminators are required at both ends of the backbone cable.
What are the advantages of a star topology? 1) Easy to install and wire 2) Easy to find faults and to remove parts 3) No disruptions to the network when connecting or removing devices
What are the disadvantages of a star topology? 1) More expensive than linear bus topologies because of the cost of the hubs, wiring and nodes etc. 2) Requires more cable length than a bus topology 3) If the hub fails then the nodes attached are disabled
What is a mesh network? The mesh network is a network topology which has nodes which are used to relay data for the network. All of the mesh nodes work together in the distribution of data in the network. Mesh networks are capable of relaying messages using either a flooding technique or a routing technique.
