Market Town Found in farming areas. Have many services e.g. shops. Good transport links. Near rivers. Have a market place in the town centre.
Port Found where there a sheltered harbours. Flat land for buildings or storage close to the water. Have deep water for large ships. Close to major industrial areas.
Industrial Town May be found near coalfields. May have old factories near to the centre of the urban area. Close to railways and/or canals. Housing areas and factories built close to each other. New industrial estates on the outskirts.
Resort On the coast with beaches or inland with scenic views. Large historical cities. Have hotels and various types of entertainment. May be close to industrial areas of large populations. Good rail and road links.
