immune system
  1. It is the body's defence system, it protects us from bacterias and diseases and fight for our bodies to get rid of them
    1. Organs
      1. Lymphoid organs
        1. WHICH INCLUDE
          1. Thymus: gland between the lungs and below the neck.
            1. Produce Lymphocycles
            2. Spleen: Theorgan that filters the blood. It is in the abdomen on the left.
              1. Bone marrow: in the center of the bones, it also produces red blood cells
                1. Lymph nodes: small glands located throughout the body, linked by lymphatic vessels.
                  1. also appendix, tonsils, and other tissues in different organs
              2. White blood cells
                1. Are stored in the lymphoid organs
                2. Active and passive immunity
                  1. Active
                    1. The body creates antibodies which prevent more attacks
                    2. Passive
                      1. The antibodies are temporary, the antibodies are in vaccines
                    3. LINES OF DEFENSES
                      1. THERE ARE 3
                        1. 1
                          1. Skin, saliva, mucus, cilia and stomach acid
                            1. Skin: The Epidermia forms a barrier. We shed about 40-50 dead skin cells daily.
                              1. Saliva: It has chemicals that break down bacteria bu kost bacteria survive
                                1. Mucus and cilia:protects the respiratory system by trapping bacteria
                                  1. Stomach acid: bacteria is broken down with the acid
                                2. 2
                                  1. Inflamatory response, interferon and white blood cells
                                    1. Inflamatory reaponse: the hurt cells release chemicals and beggin inflamating the areas
                                      1. Interferon: the chemicals which interfere with the infection process
                                        1. White blood cells: Attack when there is an invader in the body. There is the T-Cells and there is the Phagocitosis
                                          1. T-Cells attack the infected cells
                                            1. In phagocitosis the neutrophils eat the invader by engulfing it, then they break it down.
                                        2. 3
                                          1. The antibodies
                                            1. Most bacteria dont get here
                                              1. Proteins that latch into, damage, clump or slow the invaders
