                  2. With the conjunctions "not as ... as" or "less ... than". The adjective is in the positive degree
                    1. Examples
                      1. Cecilia is not as fast as Julia
                        1. Beth is not as tall as me
                    2. Comparative form followed by "than"
                      1. Examples
                        1. Eduard’s room is cleaner than Sara’s
                          1. New York is bigger than Los Angeles
                2. Superlative
                    1. We use the with superlative adjectives
                      1. If the adjective is possessive, "the" is not used. Also, "the" is not used if we compare something with itself

                          1. His smartest student is Lisa
                            1. New York is coldest in January

                      2. It is very common to compare things using adjectives, for this in English we use comparative and superlative adjectives

                            1. Name (subject) + verb + adjective in comparative degree + than + noun (object)
                              1. One syllable
                                1. Ending in "e"
                                  1. Ending in consonant + vowel + consonant
                                    1. Of two syllables that end in "y"
                                      1. Of two or more syllables
                                        1. Irregular adjectives
                                          1. good - better
                                            1. bad - worse
                                              1. far - further
                                          2. Add: “more”/“less” : more beautiful, less beautiful
                                          3. Replace "y" with: "-ier" : Funnier
                                          4. Add: “-er” : Hotter
                                          5. Add: “-r” : Nicer
                                          6. Add: “-er” : Faster

                                        1. Name (subject) + verb + the + adjective in superlative degree + noun (object)
