Past Continuous

Usage
1. Describing actions that were in progress during a specific period in the past.
2. Indicating simultaneous actions in the past
3. Talking about actions that were interrupted or unfinished
Structure and examples
1. Affirmative sentences
  1. Subject + was/were + verb-ing+complement
    1. They were reading a magazine
2. Negative sentences
  1. Subject + wasn't/weren't + verb-ing+comp.
    1. She wasn't sleeping
3. Questions
  1. Was/Were + subject + verb-ing + comp. + ?
    1. Were you speaking?
  2. Wh- word+ was/were + subject + verb-ing + comp. + ?
    1. Why were they working last Sunday?
Spelling rules for -ing verbs
1. For verbs ending in -e, we exchange the last letter to -ing
  1. drive (manejar) - driving
2. For one vowel verbs ending in consonant, we repeat that consonant and add -ing
3. For verbs ending in -ie, we exchange them to "y" and add -ing
