CONDITIONALS
1. Zero Conditional
  1. BASIC STRUCTURE: If + Present Simple+ Present Simple
  2. USED: Is used when the time referred to is "now or always" and the situation is real and possible
  3. If you need a ticket, I can get you one.
2. First Conditional
  1. BASIC STRUCTURE: If + Present simple + Will + Present simple
  2. If we hurry, we'll catch the bus.
  3. USED: Refers to a possible condition and its probable outcome
3. Second Conditional
  1. BASIC STRUCTURE: If + Past Simple + Would + Past Simple
  2. If i ate cake, i'd get fat.
  3. USED: Conditional type 2 is used to refer to a hypothetical condition and its probable outcome
4. Third Conditional
  1. BASIC STRUCTURE: If + Past Perfect + would have + PP
  2. If David had been more careful, he wouldn't have fallen.
  3. USED: Is used to refer to a condition of the past that is not real, as well as to its probable outcome in the past
5. Mix Conditional
  1. BASIC STRUCTURE: If + Past Simple + Would have + PP
  2. If Mtthew was more sensible, he would have worn a suit to the interview.
  3. USED: It is used to refer to a time in the past and a situation that has not yet ended in the present.
EMPHASIS
1. Emphasis is placed on a particular part of a sentence
  1. What.....is / are that
    1. EXAMPLE: WHAT research has shown IS THAT long-term investment produces positive results.
  2. It is.....that.....
    1. EXAMPLE: IT IS the art markert THAT interests us now.
  3. Inversion after negative sentence openers
    1. EXAMPLE: NEVER have we seen such terrible share prices.
  4. Inversion after only , rarely, little
    1. EXAMPLE: RARELY does investing in blue-chip companies fail to make money .
