  1. Parity
    1. An extra bit is added to a binary code make an even or odd number of 1s depending on the.....
    2. Check digits
      1. Final digit in a code of numbers calculated from all other digits in the code
      2. Check sums
        1. Data is sent in blocks and an additional value, the checksum is sent at the end of the block of data
          1. The relieving computer calculates the checksum and if it isn’t equal to the checksum sent by the sending computer there is an error
        2. ARQ
          1. The receiving computer checks to see if the data has been received
            1. The sending computer waits a set period of time, if the receiving computer doesn’t acknowledge the transmission then the sending computer sends it again
