This concept refers to the study of the use of language according to the social context.
1. Utterance
  1. Based on the manner somebody speaks with another person determines the kind of relationship they have.
    1. Style
      1. The kind of words that are selected to use at the moment to express something.
        Dialect
        A particular form of a language which is peculiar to a specific region or social group.
2. The different ways we say things.
  1. Based on sounds, word-structure (morphology), and grammar (syntax) as well as vocabulary, it will determine the manner to give a message.
    1. Non-linguistic and social factors.
      1. Politness, obligations, orders, casual manner to express.
3. The two languages spoken in a region.
  1. The language has varieties depending on the participants, the social setting and the topic or purpose of the interaction.
    1. Characteristics:
      1. Linguistic style.
      2. Accent.
      3. Dialects.

4. 4. why are they speaking?
Social dimensions.
1. Intimate: High solidarity.
2. Distant: Low solidarity.
