The Second Christendom

Annotations:

  • Between 476AD (Fall of Roman Empire) and 1053AD (East and West split) a tribal Europe. Christinaity under Constantine brought structure, the rural tribes didn't really have structure.
  1. Europe Changed

    Annotations:

    • No longer the centre of civilisation. The rural areas were powerful but had no organisation. A new type of mission was needed. The church was given endorsement and help by the roman empire, with the collapse of the empire the church had to find a new way to make its mission happen.
