Peter Norman was born into a poor
family. Peter Norman got into
running accidently as he didn't even
have the money to wear proper
running shoes.
Why was Peter Norman prominent?
He stood up for 'coloured' people and
protested for the equality for the people
from different races. He did that
knowing the consequences, which in that
case was getting banned from the
olympics.
How Peter helped define Australian society
Peter Norman has made an effort to stopping
Racism. Even though we still face racial
problems, it has significantly decreased.

He has gone far beyond Australia
because he reduced racism all over the
world.

Peter was the one who suggested to John and
Tommie that they should each where one glove.
The Olympic committee first said that the
coloured people would run separately from the
whites.

In 2008 a documentary/movie was made
called the salute. Peter Normans
nephew, Mathew Norman was the
one who made the film. Peter was later
became a Melbourne school teacher.
