Resistance
  1. Potential Difference
    1. voltmeter measures the potential difference
      1. it is parallel with the bulb so it measures the pd across it
        1. when charge flows steadily through a component
        2. ammeter measures the current through the torch bulb
          1. connected in series with the bulb so the current through them is the same
          2. Reversing current through a component reverses the pd across it
            1. Potential difference graphs
              1. a graph that proves ohms law
                1. a straight line through the origin means the current is directly proportional to the pd
                2. Filament bulb = resistance increases with increase of the filament temperature
                  1. Diode = 'forward' resistance low; 'reverse' resistance high.
                    1. Thermistor = resistance decreases if its temperature increases
                      1. LDR = resistance decreases if the light intensity on it increases
                    2. Resistance
                      1. Ohm's law: the current through a resistor at constant temperature is directly proportional to the potential difference across the resistor
