High frequency
  1. Use on alternating current (not direct) that is measured in hertz. Flows in excess of 100,000 - 500,000 hertz. The current oscillates very fast and does not stimulate muscles or nerves
    1. There are two types of treatment from the same machine
      1. Direct high frequency
        1. Application directly onto the skin via a glass electrode using an oxygenated cream (sodium perforate = solid oxygen) or gauze. This when combined with moisture from the skin and heat from the high frequency releases oxygen
          1. Performed once a week
        2. Indirect high frequency
          1. Client holds the electrode and current is transmitted through the therapists hands, creates warmth. On the carlton machine do not exceed the setting to more than 10 clock
            1. Performed twice a week 24-48 hours apart
