1 Oxygenated blood enters the left atrium via the pulmonary vein from the lungs
1.1 The atrio-ventricular valves only allow blood flow from the atrium to the ventricle
1.1.1 Oxygenated blood is pumped to the body through the aorta
2 De-oxygenated blood enters the right atrium via the vena cava from the body
2.1 De-oxygenated blood is pumped to the lungs through the pulmonary artery
3 The semi-lunar valves stop blood flowing back into the ventricles
