5d- Changeover and Installation

Direct (Plunge)
1. Old system runs until it is time for new system to be used
  1. Old system immediately stopped and new system installed straight after
    1. Data from old system transferred to new
      1. Everyone starts using new system at the same time
Parallel
1. Date set for new system to go live
  1. Old system continues to run as new system is being installed
    1. For a period of time both systems are run in parallel
      1. X- At this time data has to be entered into both systems in order for them to be up-to-date.
      2. Old system retired once there is confidence in new system
Phased
1. Part of the new system are introduced one at a time
  1. As one module is introduced in the new system, it's corresponding module in the old system is stopped.
2. X- The two systems have to be very compatible and have to share data easily.
3. Can be combined with parallel for each module
Pilot
1. A group is an organisation are exposed to the system before others in the organisation
2. Any problem with system or installation is identified and fix before full lance of system
3. Can be combined which phased and plot
4. O- Group used in pilot can help other when training using cascading waterfall model
