This Policy was used by the
South African government from 1941 to 1991
This Policy insured that being of different race were segregated from each
other. this made sure that people of whom were white, black, mixed race or
asian did not interact of socialise
This law was used everywhere, ranging from schools to
workplaces and even in people's homes
This policy was strongly challenged and opposed by the
general public and citizens of South Africa
South Africa were isolated from the rest of the world
due to there disapproval of the policy
Because of the act that was passed in 1950 called the group areas act, there
were different residential and business areas for different races
80 percent of South African land belonged to the white
population
Non whites were to carry around documents
specifying why they were in that area
Afrikaans language requirements caused
Soweto riots to occur in 1976
In 1990 to 1991, South African president F.W. de Kierk repealed most of the
social legislation that was included in the policy, including the population registration act
