African American Parents Perceptions of K-12 Education
Public schools that serve African American students need transformative improvement. Improvement cannot take place without the active engagement of the parents of the students served by the schools. AA parents are eager for community-based leadership that brings about reform.
(1) Engage parents is the key... parents view themselves as very engaged with teachers and schools.
(2) Parents have issues with local schools, but not their child's school.
