G-d's name is holy or sacred, not profane, and is therefore different to any other word. The word G-d is used in everyday language yet for many Jews the name of G-d is far from ordinary
                                  2. The Torah
                                    1. the words on the Torah must be read in song.
                                      1. equivalent of the Christian/Catholic bible. The Torah contains the old testament, the works of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy

                                        2. The Shema Yisrael is the most ancient Jewish prayer that can be found in the Torah. It affirms that there is only one G-d. The Shema says that G-d is personal and demands love from Jews with every aspect of their being. It also says that Jews should follow his instructions and allow this love to be seen.
                                          1. Traditions
                                            1. on the eighth day after a boy is born, a mohel will perform a circumcision and the boy will be named. This is called Brit Milah
                                              1. at Jewish adolescence (age 13 for boys and 12 for girls) Jewish boys and girls become a 'son' or 'daughter' of the commandment (Bar/Bat Mitzvot) and are then accountable for their actions.
                                                1. Weddings take place in the synagogue under a chuppah, where the couple exchange vows and rings, drink wine, break a glass and sign the ketubah
