Kinetic energy: The energy a body has due to its motion Formula: 1/2 mv

Potential energy: The energy of a body due to its position Formula: mgh (m = mass, g = acceleration due to gravity, h = height)

Thermal energy: The thermal energy a hot body has is due to the total kinetic energy of its particles The higher the temperature, the faster these particles move

Sound energy:The energy generated by sound vibrations as they travel through a medium

Electromagnetic energy:Light energy is the energy radiated in the form of an electromagnetic wave as a result of the motion of electric charge

Chemical energy: The energy stored within the chemical bonds of molecules It is given out or taken in during chemical reactions, usually changing into heat or light

Nuclear energy: A.K.A. mass energy The energy stored in the nucleus of an atom Mass-energy equivalence equation: E = mc² (E = energy, m = mass, c = speed of light)
