A food chain shows that animals need plants to survive. In turn plants can´t survive without sun. Every food chain starts with a green plant.Plants are producers and animals are consumers.

A closer look at food chains

The plant is the producer, trapping energy from the sunlight. The bug and chicken are the first consumers, eating the plant.
