The grand alliance  The Grand Alliance was an alliance made during World War II, which joined together the United States, the Soviet Union and Great Britain. Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill are often known as "The Big Three" or the Allies of World War II. The Grand Alliance is the title of volume three of Churchill's book The Second World War, which formed the basis of his Nobel Prize for Literature. The Grand Alliance is often called the "Strange Alliance" because it united the world's greatest capitalist state, the greatest communist state and the greatest colonial power. It was essentially an alliance of necessity, as all three needed to join together in order to defeat the threat of Nazi Germany.

The soviet unionThe soviet union was the Russian state known as USSR or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

Stalin was annoyed that that Churchill and Roosevelt delayed the front to 1944 it was meant to be in 1943.Stalin was convinced that America and Brittan waited for the communist to fall. Some of the agreements they made was  (Brittan and America did want communist to fall Stalin was right)     THE USA AND BRITTAN WOULD OPEN A SECOUND FRONT TO DEFEAT GERMAN DEFENCES AND TAKE SOME OF THE PRESSURE OF USSR STALIN WAS URGED TO MAKE A SECOUND FRONT ROOSAVELT SUPPORTED HIM SO THEY OPENED IT IN JUNE 1944.  THE USSR WOULD DECLARE WAR ON JAPAN AFTER GERMANS WHERE DEFETED. The satellite states  A satellite state that is officially independent, but is in reality controlled by another country. Between 1947 and 1949, the Ussr extended its influence over eastern Europe, turning countries such as Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland into satellite states Stalin describes the Marshall plan as "dollar imperialism" he believed that  the Americans were trying to buy influence over Europe, as any country that accepted Marshall aid would effectively become an American ally. to prevent this Stalin extended his control over eastern Europe creating series of satellite states   How did he keep control of them by making sure the communist party in each state had leaders that would obey Moscow. creating an atmosphere of fear and mistrust so that it was difficult for people who wanted to oppose soviet rule to trust each other enough to work together. ruthlessly using the police and army in these states to stamp on any kind of opposition.

The Truman doctrineTruman doctrine. Truman wanted to destroy communism in these conditions communism was highly appealing because communists believed that the wealth of the richest people should be shared out among the poor.to address this threat in 1947 set out a new policy that soon became known as the Truman doctrine. the world had a choice between communist tyranny and democratic freedom America had a responsibility to fight for liberty wherever it was threatened. America would send troops and economic resources to help governments that were threatened by communist communism should not be allowed to grow and  gain territory

Marshall Plan The Marshall Plan was the American initiative to aid Europe, in which the United States gave $13 billion in economic support to help rebuild European economies after the end of World War II in order to prevent the spread of Soviet Communism. The plan was in operation for four years beginning in April 1948.The goals of the United States were to rebuild war-devastated regions, remove trade barriers, modernize industry, and make Europe prosperous again. The phrase "equivalent of the Marshall Plan" is often used to describe a proposed large-scale rescue program

The berlin blockade In order to prevent the establisment of a seprate state in western germany, stalin set up a miltary blockade around west berlin in june 1948. his plan was to cut western germany off from its capital (berlin) so that the new goverment, based in berlin, could not control its territory in western germany.stalin hoped that this would prove that a divided germany could not work in practice.
